Keeping Your Camper Cool During The Summer
Summer is the most popular season for RV camping for good reason. Warm days and nights are great for enjoying the outdoors. Unfortunately, sometimes things get a little too warm, and you’ll want a place to cool off between activities. That is why Fun Country RVs & Marine, Inc. has created this guide to keeping your camper cool during the summer.
Your Camper’s AC
While your camper’s AC is the first and most obvious way to keep things cool, some models simply do not have this feature. Of course, even if you do have an AC in your camper, there is nothing stopping you from following the rest of the tips on this list. In fact, by following these tips, you can help minimize the strain on your AC and ensure that it does not break down from overwork.
Direction and Location
The direction and location in which you park your RV can make a big difference when it comes to how fast it heats up. If possible, always park in a shaded area (though make sure there are no dead branches that might fall on your camper). Try to park so that the side with the most windows faces away from the afternoon sun. If you have an awning, you can use that to deflect extra sunlight.
Ventilation
Even if you don’t have an AC, there are steps you can take to help air circulate inside your camper. Simply open all the windows on the side facing away from the sun, and shut the windows on the sunny side. Some fans or vents can go a long way toward helping you improve the airflow inside your RV.
Cover your Windows
Even if you are keeping hot air out of your camper, the sun shining through your windows can still heat things up to the point that it becomes uncomfortable. Try covering them so that the sunlight cannot get through the glass.
